J.S. Bach arr. Joanna MacGregor Art of Fugue

Moondog arr. Joanna MacGregor 14 pieces by Moondog

This continuously developing project now tours to Rome. Its performance as part of the London Jazz Festival in 2006 also marked the release of Sidewalk Dances, the much-praised Moondog CD. Moondog’s short motifs combine his love of counterpoint with Native American rhythms and breezy swing beats. The sinewy structures of Bach’s greatest keyboard work explode into hot jazz improvisation and mellow into moments of soothing, hypnotic coolness.
Some of the biggest names in jazz and world music combine forces with the star soloists of Britten Sinfonia for this wonderfully imaginative take on one of the immortal masterpieces of the classical repertoire.
