Recitalist,
soloist, chamber musician and conductor, Aldeburgh Festival Artistic Director
designate Pierre-Laurent Aimard combines technical mastery with an ability
to paint the full spectrum of colour and identify with the spirit of each
work. Typically, this programme spans the centuries, an intriguing mix
of classical style with the distilled, sensuous expressionism of Schoenberg,
Webern and Aldeburgh Festival's featured composer György Kurtág.
‘...his
playing is big-boned, strongly profiled and richly textured. There is
nothing ordinary about Aimard. His musicianship is in a class of its own.'
