Our players
love working with Imogen Cooper and it shows. A rare rapport between orchestra
and soloist is achieved through detailed rehearsal and plenty of communication.
Following last year's acclaimed performance of Beethoven's first two keyboard
concerti, we move on to the tranquil and serene fourth; the audience is
almost eavesdropping on a private conversation between piano and orchestra.
‘A
good deal of eye contact seemed to be the secret behind the outstanding
quality of the Sinfonia's performance. With the orchestra playing like
a true chamber ensemble, displaying a unanimity of purpose, blended sound
and breadth of tone you don't often hear even under the best of conductors.’
