Joanna MacGregor piano
The celebrated
partnership between Joanna MacGregor and Britten Sinfonia has seen a number
of ground-breaking projects with Nitin Sawhney, Egberto Gismonti and,
most notably, the music of Moondog. Their latest project features the
cult oud virtuoso and vocalist, Dhafer Youssef, whose extraordinary music
blends Sufi tradition, world and jazz influences, with Arabic lyricism
and mysticism. This unique concert will take place as part of the opening
night of the London Jazz Festival.
‘...the
kind of gig you watched and prayed would never end, charged with such
magic that you knew you would be telling people about it in years to come’
(of Dhafer Youssef)
