Dallapiccolla Divertimento

This programme is framed by Berio's homage to his teacher Dallapiccolla, who is represented by his lyrical settings of Italian medieval poetry. Britten's Metamorphoses and Nicholas Maw's Canticle take their inspiration from Italy - an evocative set of solo oboe portraits of characters from the great Roman scribe and a setting of Robert Browning's Two in the Campagna, set in the countryside around Rome.
